Sea to Summit Ultra-SiL Day Pack (20-Liter)
This backpack should be in every travelers inventory. It is a 20 liter water resistant day pack that packs as small as the size of a kiwi. It weighs absolutely nothing and is made of very strong ripstop cordura.
When we go out for groceries or a day hike in a city, we leave our panniers in the hostel and bring the day pack. It’s way easier than carrying for instance an ortlieb pannier with you.
You can find them for the price of around $35,- which is money well spent for such a useful item! That’s why it is number 1 on the list of must-have items for bike travel we can’t do without.sea to summit daypack – bol.com

The best multitool around. With this tool, you can leave many other tools and utensils at home. We have the Leatherman wave, which comes with two knives, a saw, scissors, pliers, and more.
The Leatherman has saved us from some nasty situations. Especially the pliers come in handy. For instance with pulling out thorns out of a tire. In one case we had up to 50 thorns stuck in our tires. Without the pliers we would have had to hitchabike back to the nearest town.
It doesn’t come cheap though. For around $100,- you can buy one. We believe it is worth the money for it has saved us some trouble. For that reason it is our number 3 on the list of must-have items for bike travel we can’t do without.Leatherman Wave bol.com

Sea to Summit Ultra-Sil Nano Dry Sack
This one was a surprise for us. We were looking for a bag to keep our clothes dry in case the panniers would leak. At first we thought we ordered the wrong dry bag for we were looking for thicker material. Before sending it back though, we tested the bag first.
What do you know! This material is perfect for compressing clothes to almost half the size. When pressing the air out, the material sticks to the clothes as if it is statically charged. This way, when all the air is pressed out, you get a compact a small bag with clothes. A true space saver.
On top of that, the fabric is strong, waterproof and light. The perfect compression dry bag for a relative small price. Prices start at around $15,- for the smallest ones, to $55,- for the biggest.
For it’s surprising convenience of being a compression dry bag it is our number 4 on the list of must-have items for bike travel we can’t do without.Sea to summit dry bags bol.com
